![]() ![]() Not only does it support a whole range of dictionary file formats, you can also include external programs or websites which will show up in the search results.įor instance, when I began studying a new language last year using a Pimsleur course, I kept an extensive transcript of the material covered in each lesson and extended GoldenDict such that it always displayed a number of sentences from the course when I looked up a word that had occurred in a lesson. Or buying and using a paper dict for that.Īre you familiar with GoldenDict? It's an open-source dictionary lookup program that runs on all major platforms including Android. Otherwise I just have to live with typing in the app. So, if I know that I looked up a word about three times (or more) and still obviously didn't know it, it could be interesting to put it into srs and learn it.ĭoes anyone know a website/windows program or app which has some function like that? (an additional android app version would be great, but not necessary) ![]() What I have in mind with the search history function is: While I encounter new words and look them up I don't want to put everything into an srs system or similar, but only the most important words at a time. The Linguee app also does a good job and showing words one searched several times, more than once in the history, but this is only availble on the app (which on its own is really great. However, I only saw that as an app for android, and I prefer using my PC or tablet (both windows) for the better keyboard (a phone is just too small to type comfortably). I do like the one of AllDict, where you have a history of searched words and in brackets the number of times you searched that word. However, a function that I somehow miss is a good search history. And for just searching I actually already have a few favourites. I know there are tons of dictionary websites and apps out there. ![]()
